VISION

Our overall objective

MINOAS vision is to bring fiber QoE and reliability to the wireless world

MINOAS objectives are:

  1. To create the interface between optical theory and signal modeling
  2. To design and develop advanced optical wireless access and backhaul networks
  3. To analyze the feasibility of ORIS-empowered OWC systems and determine their performance envelop
  4. To reach the Pareto optimal performance in advanced OWC systems
  5. To deliver intelligence to the end-user and support high levels of reconfiguration in a flexible and adaptable manner

who we are

An interdisciplinary interuniversity research team

Our team consists of senior and early-stage researchers who come together from two (2) Greek Universities, i.e., the University of Western Macedonia (UoWM) and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

The University of Western Macedonia (UOWM) was founded in Kozani, Greece, in 2003. UOWM includes 7 schools and 22 departments, while the main campus is located in Kozani, Greece. The wireless communications group of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is actively involved in a broad range of research activities in the fields of wireless communications and signal processing. The group consists of one (1) post-doc researcher, one (1) PhD students, and two (2) master students.

The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki is the largest university in Greece. The main campus is located in the centre of the city of Thessaloniki, and covers an area of about 33.4 hectares. It comprises 10 faculties which consist of 40 schools and 1 single-School Faculty.
